Mosquito & Pond Management Update: Minnows, Algae Control, and Aeration

We are excited to announce that minnows will be deployed in the following ponds to help reduce the mosquito population: Bestway Court, Horse Collar, and Summerwood Lane. Minnows are highly effective in controlling mosquito larvae, preventing them from maturing into adult mosquitoes.

In addition, we are implementing techniques to minimize algae and planktonic growth as part of our monthly service with Solitude Lake Management. Aerators have been installed at Horse Collar and Summerwood Lane, and they are currently awaiting final inspection and connectivity. This natural, environmentally friendly approach, combined with the use of minnows, will improve the health of our ponds without the need for harmful chemicals.

We are also reviewing the frequency of these services to ensure long-term effectiveness. More updates on the installation and ongoing maintenance will be shared soon—stay tuned!

Thank you for your continued support, and as always, feel free to reach out with any questions!

Golden shiners (Notemigonus crysoleucas) belong to the minnow family (Cyprinidae) and are widely distributed throughout the U.S, southern Canada, and into Mexico. Golden Shiners are widely cultured for use primarily as a baitfish, but possess a number of traits that make them an ideal forage species in ponds.
